Polyvinyl alcohol production
As of the end of December 2015, our country's polyvinyl alcohol capacity reached 1.351 million tons, making it the largest polyvinyl alcohol producer in the world.
Production method and proportion
- The total capacity of the calcium carbide acetylene method is 1.015 million tons/year, accounting for about 75.1% of the total capacity
- The total capacity of the petroleum ethylene process is 121,000 tons/year, accounting for about 9.0% of the total capacity
- The total capacity of the natural gas acetylene process is 165,000 tons/year, accounting for about 12.2% of the total domestic capacity
- The capacity of biomass feedstock is 50,000 tons/year, accounting for about 3.7% of the total capacity

Production facilities are mainly concentrated in East China, North China, Southwest China, Northwest China and other regions.
